The Ear Health Courses “Cerumen Management 101” is a suite of courses available In-Person at Macquarie University NSW or Melbourne University  VIC, or On line.  The coursework consists of both theory and supervised practical work.

Course options include:

CM101C  Complete In-Person Training (Theory and Practicum)

CM101P  Practicum In-Person Training (Practicum Only)

CM101TH  Online Theory

“Practicum” In-Person Training aims to:

  • Provide hands on practice of various cerumen management techniques under supervision (mechanical removal and micro-suction), with emphasis on mechanical wax removal under direct vision using converged binocular optics such as the VorOtek O Scope.
  • To build confidence in performing basic cerumen removal on all methods of Cerumen Management and advise how to gradually build skills for more advanced ear cleaning cases in clinic.
  • Build Confidence in Infection Control standards and learn how to properly clean equipment to prevent contamination.

“Theory” On-Line Training aims to:

  • Provide a theoretical basis for safe ear canal management, including cerumen extraction
  • Introduce various cerumen management techniques (mechanical removal and micro-suction), with emphasis on mechanical wax removal under direct vision using converged binocular optics such as the VorOtek O Scope.
  • To make clinicians aware of ethical issues including informed consent and infection control
